The Tented Camp

The Tented Camp

Opened in 2006, The Sleeping Warrior Tented Camp Lodge stands on a lava outcrop commanding stunning views over the private Soysambu Conservancy towards UNESCO World Heritage Site, Lake Elmenteita. Conceived and built by Frenchman, Jean-Francois Damon, who now runs it together with his American wife, Jacqueline.

Nestled in leleshwa groves, the camp offers a choice of four ensuite tents, a stone-built guesthouse or a part-tented hill-top retreat with roll-out star bed. The main house offers a welcoming lounge with panoramic dining terrace and intimate bar.

Eco friendly

The Sleeping Warrior Tented Camp is powered entirely by solar electricity. The water is heated by sustainably harvested Leleshwa wood, gathered by women of the local community and transported by donkey. The tents are roofed using traditional methods, locally sourced hay and local labour. The majority of the furniture is made from re-cycled cedar poles, once used for fencing on the colonial ranch.
